Many sites may have more than one domain with the same content.
Example:
www.company.com
www.company.co.uk
www.company.net
There is nothing wrong with having more that one domain name, however only one domain should be listed in the search engines with the content. By using multiple domains you risk of being penalised with Supplemental Results and spamming in the search engines.
This can be avoided with permanent redirects. This function will automatically redirect all domains to main site regardless of which URL that is entered into the browser address filed.
If you are running a Apache (Unix, Linux) server you will have to use a 301 Permanent Redirect command in the .htaccess file. If you are using a Windows server (IIS) a ISAPI filter will do the equivalent of the .htaccess file.
